Welcome to BlushBrain!
BlushBrain is an expert-run website and information portal that supports the increasing population of aging individuals who have an interest in, or start to experience symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases.
It also aims to be a source of information for the dedicated caregivers of patients with neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
There is a tsunami of information on the internet about Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, much of it excellent but written in language that is hard to understand for persons who are not in a medical field. Much of the information is also just wrong: the result of conjecture, misinformation or hearsay and often driven by unscrupulous persons wanting to capitalize on the suffering of others. I will point out such controversies in my posts. In contrast to these websites, BlushBrain does not charge anything for its information and never will.
Patients and their caregivers are sometimes desperate, grasping at straws in their quest to learn more about their condition. They need accurate information about their disease and about medico-scientific and clinical progress in the field, to discuss with their health care professionals who manage their symptoms and the progression of their disease. As the author of BlushBrain I will – on a regular basis – sift through the information available in the medical literature and from other sources. I will then separate fact from fiction, snake oil from true scientific findings and medical progress, and report those in easy to read relatively short and topical articles that will be informative and accurate. View BlushBrain as your source of easy-to-digest short stories about the cutting edge of news and research on your condition!
BlushBrain does NOT provide medical information on individual cases, nor does it promote any particular approach to therapy or disease management. It translates the facts contained in the scientific literature and news into a form that you will enjoy reading. Please discuss these interesting developments with your physician or healthcare professional, but always remember that only they know your individual case, have all the facts about YOUR condition, and are charged to provide you with the best possible therapy and care that will result in the best outcomes for YOU.
Enjoy reading the current and future articles and headlines in BlushBrain, please provide constructive feedback, and if there is a particular topic that you would like to see covered, get in touch with me. Your select topic may very well be covered in a future post!
Good luck with your journey, and I hope what you glean from these pages will help you in many ways!
